Join the Faith Connections on Mental Illness NAMIWalks team . . .
. . . So NO ONE Walks Alone

WHY WE FORM A FCMI TEAM
FCMI forms a NAMIWalks team to make sure that anyone who wants to join the walk can enjoy the camaraderie, encouragement, and support of other like-minded folks. Not every faith community is able to support their own team – and not every person is part of a faith community.

HOW TO SIGN UP
To walk with us, once registration opens for the event, search for the Faith Connections on Mental Illness team and follow the prompts.  When you have gone through the steps, be sure to save the link that goes directly to your walker page so that you can email it to friends and/or post it on FaceBook to ask for sponsors. Anyone who raises at least $100 will receive a free NAMIWalks T-shirt from NAMI NC.
I'M NOT GOOD AT FUNDRAISING - WHAT IF I DON'T RAISE ENOUGH?  While it is great to raise money for NAMI, there is no minimum amount you need to raise. Even more than the money raised, NAMIWalks raises awareness that those suffering from mental illness (and those who care for them) no longer need to suffer alone. It is hard to ignore hundreds of people gathered in one place!

All funds donated to our team will be split between NAMI NC and NAMI Orange, Durham, and Wake Counties. .
HOW DO I RAISE MONEY?
The NAMI Fundraising Page has lots of simple ideas. After signing up you will be given a link to your personal fundraising page, which you can share via direct email, as a part of your email signature line, posting on FaceBook and other social media, etc.
Useful Info - for next year - when we hope to return to an in-person event rather than a virtual walk
  • Plan to stay and enjoy the “after party”
  • There will be tents and exhibits. Some may give away food and drinks but it is best to bring your own water.
  • Festivities typically wind up around noon, but you are free to leave anytime
  • Port-a-potties are available
  • We will organize carpools for those traveling from Chapel Hill
