The members of the Mental Illness Ministry are working towards providing training to members, connecting with community organizations with related missions, for example, NAMI and Faith Connections, developing a resource library, in print and on-line, and organizing church events related to mental illness.

The Caring Ministry is working to reduce stigma by providing information about mental illness and support when possible to those church members affected by mental illness. We have church members who have experience in dealing with mental illness in their own families and can provide:

NAMI Orange Helpline: 919-929-7822
Alliance Behavioral Health: 800-510-9132, 24 hour help line in which a licensed clinician will help you find a crisis evaluation or facility‐based crisis center.
A National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) support group meets at the church on the 1st Wednesday of the month from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm in the Manse. For information, contact Lisa Hamill, 919-933-8941, [email protected]
NAMI support group at the Seymour Center: 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month from 7:00 - 8:30 pm. This is a structured, interactive support group open to family members and friends of adults with mental illness. Any information that is shared with the Caring Ministry outside of Joys and Sorrows is kept confidential and is only shared with the minister and pastoral visitors unless permission is given.
Getting Involved
